On the evening of August 7, Nguyen Cong Thanh, Chairman of the Tuy Hoa Ward People’s Committee, said a foreign male tourist had been swept away by waves and was missing in local waters. Authorities were continuing the search.

Later that evening, rescue teams were still working to locate the missing tourist.

Initial information showed that earlier that afternoon, L.D.B., 21, a resident of Mau Lam Bac Hamlet in Phu Hoa 2 Commune, and Z.L., a 27-year-old Chinese national, were spending time together at a beach in Tuy Hoa Ward.

At around 6:45pm, Z.L. walked down and stood near the water’s edge when he was suddenly swept away by waves and disappeared.

After receiving the report, Tuy Hoa Ward Police coordinated with the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Division of Dak Lak Provincial Police to launch a search operation.

However, large waves and strong winds made the search and rescue operation extremely difficult. As of 8pm, authorities had yet to locate the missing tourist.

Also on the afternoon of August 7, the Dak Lak Provincial Monuments Management Board said staff at the Bai Mon - Mui Dai Lanh heritage site in Hoa Xuan Commune had joined local authorities in rescuing three foreign tourists.

The group had travelled from Khanh Hoa Province to the Bai Mon area at 11am that day for sightseeing. Three male tourists later went swimming and were swept farther offshore, becoming stranded among rocks and unable to make their way back to shore.

At around 1pm, a female tourist who remained onshore alerted staff at the Bai Mon - Mui Dai Lanh heritage site.
